COVID-19 belongs to a family of viruses that may cause illness in animals and/or humans. They specifically impact respiratory functioning and can range from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). COVID-19 is the most recently discovered Coronavirus.

COVID-19 is transmitted through small respiratory droplets from the nose and mouth. These droplets are expelled during coughing, sneezing, and/or speaking. The droplets do not travel large distances and due to weight usually sink to the ground. This is why it is so important for us to physically distance ourselves from others.

Common Symptoms of COVID-19 Include:

  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Tiredness

Less Common Symptoms of COVID-19 Include:

  • Aches and Pains
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Headache
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Sore Throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of Taste

The best method to protect yourself and others is to practice hand and respiratory hygiene at all times. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Additionally, maintain 1 meter between you and others. This can prevent and reduce the amount of respiratory droplets that you could come into contact with. You can also wear a mask to protect those around you. Canada has universal healthcare, however; let’s not forget that healthcare is Provincial and not Federal. To find a location in your Province offering testing, we recommend you visit the Government Website to find a testing centre in your region. It will take about

TWO DAYS for you to receive your results. Stay safe and remember to continue practicing proper hand and respiratory hygiene!
